01Who we are

MIRA (Marketing Indie Resource Accelerator) is operated by Indie Author Academy LLC ("MIRA", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

02Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash) and the profile details you choose to add.
• Your content: manuscripts, scenes, book details, images, videos, captions, hashtags and anything else you upload or create in MIRA.
• Billing information: your plan, purchases and billing contact details. Card numbers are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Communications: messages you send to our support team and your replies to our emails.

Information from connected platforms

When you connect a TikTok account, TikTok shares with us the information you authorize: your basic profile (display name, username and avatar), public account statistics such as follower count, and the list and performance of the videos you publish. We also receive access tokens that let MIRA publish on your behalf.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data: the pages and features you use, actions you take, browser type, device type, operating system and approximate location derived from your IP address.
• Log data: IP address, access times and error reports generated when you use the service.
• Cookies and similar technologies: described in our Cookie Policy.

03How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• create and manage your account and authenticate you when you sign in;
• provide the service, including indexing your book, generating content you request and publishing or scheduling posts to the accounts you connect;
• process payments, manage subscriptions and credits and prevent fraud;
• show you post and account analytics;
• answer support requests and send service messages, such as receipts, security alerts and changes to these terms;
• send product updates and marketing emails, if you have not opted out;
• keep MIRA secure, investigate abuse and enforce our Terms of Service;
• improve and develop the service, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible;
• comply with legal obligations.

04Legal bases for processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests: to secure and improve MIRA, prevent fraud and communicate with you about the service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Consent: for optional marketing emails and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements.

05AI and your content

MIRA uses third-party AI model providers to generate text and visuals from the material you provide. When you request a generation, the relevant excerpt of your content is sent to that provider to produce the result.

• Our providers process your content only to return the result to us, under contracts that prohibit them from using it to train their models.
• We do not use your manuscripts or generated content to train AI models.
• MIRA does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.

06How we share information

We share personal information only as described below:

• Service providers that process data on our behalf under written contracts: cloud hosting and infrastructure, payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (Amazon Web Services), AI model providers and customer support tools.
• Platforms you connect, such as TikTok, when you ask MIRA to publish or schedule content. What happens to content once it is published is governed by that platform's own terms and privacy policy.
• Team members you invite to your workspace, who can see the books and content in it.
• Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of MIRA, our users or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. A current list of our service providers is available on request.

07TikTok data

Information we receive through TikTok's APIs is used only to provide the features you use in MIRA: displaying your account, publishing and scheduling your posts, and showing their performance.

• We request only the permissions those features need.
• We do not sell TikTok data or use it for advertising.
• You can disconnect a TikTok account from MIRA at any time, and you can also revoke MIRA's access from your TikTok settings. When you disconnect, we stop collecting new data and delete the access tokens.

08International transfers

MIRA is operated from the United States and uses service providers in the United States and the European Union. When we transfer personal information outside your country, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

09How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is open and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where we must keep it longer for legal, tax, accounting or security reasons. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

10Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete your information;
• export your data in a portable format;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• withdraw consent where we rely on it;
• opt out of marketing emails, using the link in any marketing email.

California and other U.S. states

Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have the rights to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require an opt-out. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

How to make a request

Email hello@mira.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within the time required by law, typically 30 days (45 days under California law). If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11Security

We protect personal information with technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls limited to staff who need access, and monitoring of our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

12Children

MIRA is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you by email or through the service before they take effect.
